Why did my domain transfer fail?

Domain transfers can fail for many reasons, so here are some of the most common.

.uk domains

.uk domain transfers generally fail automatically if the IPS TAG of the domain is not set to TUCOWS-CA. If you have changed your IPS TAG and the domain transfer is still failing, please raise a ticket by logging in above and we'll see what we can do.

All other domains

Generic TLDs (such as .com and .net) will fail to transfer automatically if:

  • It's less than 60 days since the domain was registered
  • It's less than 60 days until the domain expires
  • The domain is locked at the current registrar
  • The admin contact doesn't respond to confirm the transfer

If you're sure none of these reasons apply to your domain, please raise a ticket by logging in above and we'll see what we can do.
